Many people wonder "How do spammers get my email and why do they do what they do?" Spammers are really very caniving individuals who show no sense of respect and are power hungry to get as many emails as they can through involuntary methods of email capturing. Rather than doing the legitimate side of marketing where fellow Internet users willingly opt-in to websites they're interested  in, spammers usually build software spiders and unleash them through the Internet to crawl through websites looking for "mailto:" HTML tags which are used when linking email addresses together. The spiders collect all of these email addresses for the spammer to spread his junk email messages across all emails that are within their possession. Spam Spiders are getting more sophisticated so even if some one tries to conceal their email addresses through more unconventional methods such as "john at johndoe dot com", there are well built crawlers that will pick these addresses up.

How to avoid getting into spammers' email lists tips

The fight between spammers and people who get spammed continues. Whether you are a novice on the Internet, or you use e-mail for a long time, you need to come up with a plan how you will withstand spam. Even these simple tips will help you be one step ahead the spammers and make a spam flow as less as possible.

Have you ever thought about how spammers obtain your email address? One of the methods spammers use is harvesting the emails on the Internet. They don’t do it manually since they need millions of addresses. They automate the process of collecting email addresses with special programs. Spambots are one of the tools that spammers use. A spambot is a program which browses through websites and search for legitimate email addresses. These email addresses are then harvested and stored in big databases. Spammers then use those lists to send their advertisements and fraudulent “get rich quick” plans. They can also sell and re-sell the email lists in order to get money.

Although there is no ideal solution to fool spambots, there are, however, a few techniques that are quite effective.

Spambots won’t harvest your email address if you don’t disclose it. But what about forums, boards, and other public websites that require providing the email address before you can post? You can get an email address with any of free providers of email service and use that email address for public website. If your public email address is harvested, you won't have to worry about what is sent there because you don't use it for e-mail. Use a different email address for your personal mail and make sure to give it out to those people only you know and trust.

How spammers obtain your email address and why they send Spam

You probably know that Spam is unsolicited and undesired e-mail message. Spammers are the people who send Spam. Spam is a serious problem. It is important today as never before because almost every other email message we receive is Spam. So, the question arises how spammers get your email address and why they send you Spam. Spammers can obtain your email address in three ways.

One way is to guess a mailbox name for a publicly listed domain name. Many organizations have the email addresses where the first part of the email address is a general word such as “info”, “sales”, “accounts”, “support”, etc. People often use the email addresses beginning with their first name, for example, John, Sandra, Julia. Spammers simply put the first names before the @ symbol followed by a domain name, and get possible email addresses.

Secondly, spammers can gather email addresses from the Internet. They use programs that search web pages looking for email addresses. If there is your contact email address in your web site, or if the email address is embedded into your profile, your email address will be obtained by spammers.

The third way to get your email address is to buy email lists. Some dishonest companies can make money by selling the customer’s information to spammers. Spammers can also bribe unscrupulous employees of companies to get a copy of the email list.

Tip! G-Lock SpamCombat supports the use of regular expressions in the blacklist that makes it easy to detect almost all misspellings of Viagra, Cialis, etc. as well as image spam emails.

Once spammers got a list of the victims’ email addresses, they start spamming. They do it to make money. In general, there are two kinds of spam messages:

1.Offering trashy and fraudulent goods or services (e.g. Viagra, Cialis, medications, fake Rolexes, software programs, etc.)

2.Stock scams working on “Pump and dump” schemes. Spammers encourage you to invest in a particular company's stock, in order to quickly inflate its value and enable the spammers to make a fast profit.

By sending their undesired messages spammers have for an object to contact thousands or even millions people in the hope to hit one or a few dolts who actually will buy their crappy products. No dolts, no spam. But out of a million people, you will always find one or two.
