Are You Seeing Lightning Strike On Your Desktop?

from: John Peace

Thumbnail example
Have you heard about the latest viral marketing list building program? It is none other than the DesktopLightning.com. Is this concept new? I thought something must be spectacular, so I went ahead to sign up. Actually, before I sign up, when I read the promotion copy, I roughly knew that it was similar to Listdotcom.com, whereby you can email to your downline. But never mind, I just signed up to check it out. I have nothing to loose but more to gain as I will be able to learn another possible idea. If I am not wrong, judging from the sales copy and the emails I have received, there are many people that like this site and are saying good things about it. But are they true? I need to find it out myself. Below are some of the points I would like to shares and comment.

In summary, this is a cool new viral marketing tool, which is capable of broadcasting messages directly to people's desktops. Whereas for Listdotcom (which I am a Diamond Member), the message goes into the members email account. This is one of the main different. Hey, did you see something similar here? Isn't it the same as InstantBuzz? I would say, almost there. For the DesktopLighting, there is a small yellow lighting icon at the bottom right corner (just beside the time), and when it flashes, it means that you have a message. The program assures that you will not receive more than 14 mails per week (since there are 15 levels). But for free members, you can mail only once a week. For paid member, you can mail twice a week. The software is easy to install and use. You can use it to promote your product and services. Was I totally stunt and amazed by this system when I used it? Honestly, not really. Actually I should, since there are so much praises about this new system that they said it is going to be more potent than email marketing, but can I believe them or should I be taken in by their bold claim? As I have said in the beginning, I did sign up anyway as I like to explore new opportunities. Sometime you never know that it might be something that is suitable for you. There is no risk since signing up is free of charge. Signing up and installing is easy and fast. Filling up names, email address (as usual), backend offer to upgrade (there again), and download of software (a small file). You can install instantly and uninstall instantly also (if you don't like it). With the software installed, you can see a host of promotional tools for you to build-up your list (as usual). Well, as said before, this is a 15 level viral list building program. You invite a few people, that few people invite more people, and goes on and on. I know you already knew this stuff. I don't need to repeat here. Will it work? Well the mechanism is there, it is how well you can invite the prospects. Some testimonies from the promotion pages are as follows;

David Joseph said, I quote "I haven't ever seen a system build a downline so fast. I joined your program just to try something new. Four days later I had a downline of 43 people. This is unbelievable." End quote. Yet another guy, David Parton said, I quote "I invited just a handful of people only a few days ago and I already have 48 members on 5 levels below me. I am going to keep promoting this, but I see it has a life of it's own now. I couldn't stop my network from expanding if I wanted to!" End Quote

Rene Keiser has this to say, I quote "This website is so viral - I received over 100 sign-ups and my network is already 5 levels deep in less than 48 hours." End Quote

Who can guarantee the results of the viral effects? Honestly, no one can. But if you are successful to get a few to sign up, you can start to see you downline growing. How big will your downline be? That will depends on how hardworking those people in the downline are. Okay, the good thing about this program is that, you have your list built by yourself and those under you. They help you to build your list as well. Remember you can broadcast those people in your 15 level. And the good thing is that you can broadcast your intended message to them directly to their desktops and not email account. Something like InstantBuzz (where it appears at the toolbar). By the way, since this is not an email, it will now be caught by spam filers and flood the inbox. This is good news.

A bit about paid member. One feature is that, you can get exact statistics on the percentage of your broadcasts that were opened by your downline. You will also have services like embed video and sound right into the broadcast. Since, I think that you will likely not upgrade, I will not talk too much about upgrade feature. Be a fee member first. Remember if you join, you will have to install the software at your desktop (like InstantBizz). Since every member will have to install that software, is allows instant and smooth communication to occur. Accordingly, when you send a message to your downline, they will receive it within one hour. The yellow lighting icon will flash and notify them to open up the message and read. How about those who are not online? No worries, they will receive it when they log in the next time. This is a new way of communicating as the messages will not get lost (like those lost email) or blocked by filters. Some programs do not have this viral feature and you will have to promote your own URL very hard. This will work for more experienced marketers but no so for beginners. However, this program ensures that every member is capable to expand their downline irregardless of their skill level. As I mentioned before, there is no short of promotional tools. They provided a section called "Starting From Scratch" section, designed specifically for people who have no list and no website with traffic. Nothing new in my opinion. They suggested promotion through ezine directories, clickbank, CPC and JV. But nevertheless, a good start for those beginners. So, having said so much about this new viral program, there is no harm or risk to give it a try. Always embrace new opportunity and you may be able to get something out of it. The desktop broadcast has its advantages over email as it does not get filter out and you do not need to log into to your email account. With a network built-up, you can start to promote your products and services to your downline.

How Not To Get Hooked By A "Phishing" Scam

from: Dean Phillips

First of all, for those of you unfamiliar with the term, "Phishing" is a high-tech scam that uses spam or pop-up messages to deceive you into disclosing your credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security number, passwords, or other sensitive information.

Phishers send an e-mail or pop-up message that claims to be from a business or organization that you deal with--for example, your Internet service provider (ISP), bank, online payment service, or even a government agency. The message usually says that you need to "update" or "validate" your account information.

It might even threaten some dire consequence if you don_t respond. The message directs you to a website that looks exactly like a legitimate organization_s site, but it's not. The ...
